"Interviews by Jonesy" Miscellaneous Links Ol'Pappy-isms

North of the city limits of Seattle, with the Puget Sound on the west, Cascade Mountains on the east, small, and not so small nightclubs and casinos still play rock, rock'n roll, and R&B cover tunes into the wee hours of any Friday or Saturday night.

What follows are some of those clubs and the bands that are playing

"Sometimes, you don't want anything new.
Rather than something that may be fresh and exciting, or boring and rotten, you want to enjoy a private Kodak moment with your brain cells - what's left of them, at least.
You want to hear a song that you know all the words to, with music that instantly takes you back to a certain time and place, when you were young and clueless and irresponsible, having the time of your life and not even having to pay taxes.
And that's why there are - and probably always will be - cover bands. As diners and retro restaurants offer meatloaf and other "comfort foods," these bands offer Meatloaf and other "comfort music".
While bands that play little (if any) original material have no hope of making it big nationally, cover bands thrive locally."

(Tom Scanlon, Seattle Times nightclub reporter, Seattle Times - August 19, 1999)

(N.B. The term "Webmaster" means the guy that does the work around here. It is, obviously, an overly pompous term invented by people who had consumed too much pizza and Dr. Pepper.)
